A positive stone, thought to only bring good, Aquamarine has been said to keep sailors safe at sea by calming waves, promote happiness in marriages, protect wearers against enemies, and quicken the intellect. The gem is greenish blue and light in tone, which is reflected in its name: the word aquamarine stems from seawater in Latin. Aquamarine is a birthstone for March and the gem for the 19th anniversary.
